NEWS -- Corporal Kirchner Alive; WWE.com Reported Him Dead

In a bizarre twist, the man who portrayed Corporal Kirchner in then-WWF is, in fact, alive, despite what WWE.com reported.

The World Wrestling Entertainment homepage listed a story that a man named Thomas Spear had portrayed the patriotic character, and that Spear had passed away of natural causes. In fact, a gentleman by the name of Mike Kirchner had portrayed the character, and Kirchner is alive, well, and perplexed by the announcement of his death.

SLAM Sports in Canada broke the story. That article can be read at this link. WWE.com has removed the story of Corporal Kirchner's death, but has not retracted their earlier story as of 6:25 PM CT Saturday.

Oh yes, the corporal! Sgt. Slaughter's replacement when he left World Wrestling Federation because Vince and Hulkster saw his popularity overcoming the Hulksta.

Too bad Corporal Kirchner pissed off McMahon so bad that they would not even allow him back at WrestleMania 17 when he was originally scheduled to be in the gimmick battle royal.

Another fun fact is Krazy Kory owns this guys wrestling figure!

Kirchner went on to portray Leatherface in Japan and has an autobiography out for anyone interested.
