NEWS -- Kurt Angle Released by WWE

As reported at WWE.com and various news sites, Kurt Angle is no longer employed by WWE. They are citing "personal issues" as the reason for Angle being granted an early release from the company he's been with since 1999. The door has been left open, though, with the story reading that WWE hopes to reestablish a relationship with Angle in the near future.

Plenty more analysis on this monumental story will be coming in the coming days at this site. For now, LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS on one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

I told Kory just the other day that Angle needed to take about six months off and then come back for Mania. It would give him a chance to get things in order, and would make a big impact when he returned. Whether it's related to drugs, his health, or something else, I hope he comes back soon, but only when he's ready.

Wow...I hope he gets stuff figured out if that is the case and comes back soon...Geez, I mean, Jericho, then Benoit, now Kurt...I mean, who left can actually WRESTLE (good, that is on a consistent basis).

In all honesty, I would think that the WWE did this for Kurt's sake. Watching him work through all of these injuries seemed to be like watching him commit slow motion suicide. Would any of us have been any more surprised if the headline had read that he died? I wouldn't have been. If he can reprioritize his life and get healthy then he should come back. The way he's going now it's probably best for him.

Indeed, from everything I've read, it seems to boil down to workinh personal stuff out with his family as well as the fact that he's basically hitting that point that he needs pain meds just to function day-to-day. He didn't want to reach the point that so many others have.
