WWE RAW Review -- 08/28/06
First of all, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for bearing with us during our audio issues. It's really out of our hands, meaning our hands are free to wring the necks of the folks in charge of the service that have failed to give updates at all about their issues. But instead of wringing, we restrain and stand defiant in the face of adversity.
DJ FULLY'S TALKING POINTS FOR RAW
- Edge and Cena will battle in TLC -- No big newsflash, but I thought from the announcement by Cena that he'll go to SmackDown! if he loses, to Edge's interference in Cena's match with the "leaner and meaner after his sabbatical" Chris Masters, it was a well-thought-out angle. The SD stip adds another level of intrigue to a feud recently revitalized by a hot couple of weeks of stories. Edge and Flair proved TLC can be done in a single's environment, and Cena has always had his best matches in street fight and brawl matches. I'm looking forward to this one.
- Lita blabs that Trish is retiring -- I'm glad they're addressing this prior to Trish leaving. I'm assuming we'll see Trish and Lita at Unforgiven, adding yet another match with build-up to the card, which is already shaping up very nicely for a non-Big 4 show. Trish, in my mind, is the greatest female wrestler of all time, and leaves an amazing legacy that will be hard to live up to. Here's hoping she goes out with a sense of satisfaction, as she has certainly provided us with a lot of Stratusfaction over the years.
- Building matches...what a concept! -- With three weeks to go before Unforgiven, it appears we have TLC for the WWE Title, Hell in a Cell with the McMahons and Big Show versus DX, Orton/Carlito, Trish/Lita, Kane/Umaga and Nitro/Hardy for the Intercontinental Title. That'll be six matches with about five weeks build, and likely more to be developed in the next few weeks. It feels like 1999 all over again (I can't feel wrestling's 1998...I wasn't a fan yet), and it feels damn good. When everyone has direction and rivalries and time on-air, everyone wins, especially the fans. Good job to the WWE writers...and I almost feel dirty saying that.
- DX and the McMahons, Take 43 -- ...and ACTION! Look, I'm as sick of the rivalry as anyone. As much as I praise the writers, I just don't think they have anything for DX after the McMahons, so they're leaching blood from their dry turnip. I'd say they got a drop out of it with the announcement of the Hell in a Cell and by adding Big Show. Will this be a classic HiaC? Absolutely not. A handicap cell match hasn't been done to my knowledge, and could be a logistical nightmare. But the McMahons typically pull out acceptable matches, and if this is the blowoff to this (endless) drama, it should be decent. Finlay, Regal and Kennedy didn't come out looking great after their loss to DX, but at least they got some time on a show with viewers.
Overall, another strong RAW building towards a pay-per-view I'm more excited about than SummerSlam. No amazing matches (Hardy/Orton was the best), and the crowd wasn't all that hot in Atlantic City, but the show was good nonetheless.

WWE SmackDown! Review -- 08/25/06
Well, it was I, Krazy Kory, who discovered our technical difficulties on Friday. Why? Because I was trying to post my audio for my thoughts on SmackDown. Anyway, without going way deep inside what I thought about Friday's SmackDown, I will just give you the notes I took for my audio post. Give me your thoughts if you take the time to read instead of listen... you lazy people. Here we go....
- Booker T's King's Court is back intact and I am happy about that. Having Regal say "Hail King Booker!" is way better than Sharmell saying it. Booker T knighted Fit Finlay and William Regal. JBL's reaction to this was pricless and hilarious! He acted like they had won the world title. Lashley and Batista attacked the ceremony and Teddy Long announced a handicap match for the main event of the night. Looks like they are testing out Bobby Lashley out for the main events. I'd say if this all works out for Lashley that he could be the world champion by WrestleMania.
- Gregory Helms came out to do the commentary for the Matt Hardy vs. Mr. Kennedy match. Good match between the two with the obvious ending (Helms interfering, Kennedy DQed), but good news is I am really looking forward to Hardy vs. Helms. Seems WWE is copying the TNA thing that Rhino and Cage have. The history of Matt Hardy and Helms goes just as far back. Should be exciting.
- WWE acknowledging that the Miz is a tool and that people hate him is a good thing. It will pay off for the Miz in the end, too, I think, because I think he could be a great annoying character. People with characters much like their real selves usually pay off great. Since Miz sucks in real life, the character should be funny. I'm giving this angle a shot. Miz debuts this Friday on SmackDown! By the way he interviewed Layla... whatever.
- Tatanka vs. Sylvester Terkay was boring. Terkay and his manager give me no reason to care about them. Even Terkay's ring attire is boring. His manager is boring. HE is boring. His history is boring. Tatanka lost to him. Tatanka has a new storyline going where the referees keep screwing him inadvertantly. Whatever. I'm an old school Tatanka fan because it reminds me of being a kid again, but he is for sure out of place with the current product.
- Vickie Guerrero apologized for messing up the match between Rey Mysterio and Chavo. The fans booed all over this. Both men accepted the apology, and then Chavo attacked Rey. Then, Vickie turned on Rey Mysterio and hit him with a chair. She is now heel and with Chavo. This is just getting more and more stupid. I would tell you the typical "this is demeaning to the spirit of Eddy Guerrero," but you already know that. It's just stupid and I don't care about it.
- Paul London beat KC James when the Pitbulls interfered. The three tag teams brawled all over the ring. I like that they are trying to put some spirit back into the tag division. This match was too short, though.
- Montel V. Porter (MVP) came out to watch Kristal Marshall fight Jillian Hall. Marshall won. The crowd was dead for this... bad. The old school WWF SuperStar boxes were used for promos before the girls fought... good. The match itself blew ass.
- Jimmy Wayne Yang (Akio) is coming to the SmackDown brand as a hick asian cowboy. This looks hilarious. Call it stupid all you want, but lets not forget we need SOME comedy on wrestling. Wrestling in itself is kind of stupid when you think about it, so why not have some good old fashion comedy? And this guy looks like a funny character.
- Vito beat Sylvan... didn't have a reason to really care. Do you care to hear about why the man in a dress beat some French dude? MVP teased getting in the ring with Vito, but then received a phone call. I like this gimmick. The guy seems like he is too important for everyone else. The only thing that bothers me is he is "the hottest free agent in wrestling". Well, problem is wrestling isn't like other pro sports. Free agents like I used to be work regular day jobs. Free agents in wrestling aren't even considered without being KNOWN. Never heard of Montel Porter before. You either? I would consider Reckless Youth a few years ago the hottest free agent. Or maybe Monty Brown could be a hot free agent, but not some guy who was working in front of five people a few weeks ago.
- Finlay, Booker T and Regal lost to Lashley and Batista if I remember correctly. Okay match. No complaints here. They are getting over Lashley and Dave Batista and that is okay with me. I wouldn't mind seeing Batista take on Bobby Lashley for WrestleMania in 2007.
SmackDown! overall this past Friday was way better than usual. The show needs to pick up the slack in the middle and they would be fine. Let's see if they continue getting better.
- Krazy Kory

NEWS -- Kurt Angle Released by WWE
As reported at WWE.com and various news sites, Kurt Angle is no longer employed by WWE. They are citing "personal issues" as the reason for Angle being granted an early release from the company he's been with since 1999. The door has been left open, though, with the story reading that WWE hopes to reestablish a relationship with Angle in the near future.
Plenty more analysis on this monumental story will be coming in the coming days at this site. For now, LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS on one of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
